i know what their aim is ‘to save lives by preventing, controlling and curing cancer.’
but i just dont know what their objectives are.
below are goals but can they be changed or used to be objectives?
-People will know how to reduce their risk of cancer
• The number of smokers will fall dramatically
• People under 75 will be less likely to get cancer
• Cancer will be diagnosed earlier
• We will understand how cancer starts and develops
• There will be better treatments with fewer side effects
• More people will survive cancer
• We will especially tackle cancer in low income
communities
• People with cancer will get the information they need
• We will continue to fight cancer beyond 2020

All goals can be changed once an answer is found on the slightest of objectives It also doesn’t mean smokers will quit. Nicotine is a drug and like drug and alcohol abuse, it’s a long process and no one who’s been smoking for over 30-40 yrs will quit on the spur of the moment. Some even think that since they have cancer, why not enjoy what life they have left. Depending on the type of cancer they have. Not all people think that way, just some. Research does not mean cancer will be diagnosed earlier. Some cancers have been in Research for many, many years and some are not closer now than years ago. The objective is to find answers that lead to a cure. Research will most definitely tell them how some cancer start and develop. Right now, we all know it begins with a mutated cell gone awry. I don’t believe there’s cancer is any different in low income than wealthy. Cancer sucks and doesn’t care who gets it. You’re right about one thing, they will continue to fight cancer until the world ends if that’s what it takes. I also don’t believe people under 75 are any less at risk than the elderly. Treatments will especially get better. Much of the research goes toward better treatments, and hospital care
The objectives in the UK are no different than the objectives in the U.S.A, or Russia, or South America etc. Every scientist wants a cure or better treatments.
This sounds like a homework question that normally don’t answer but I wanted to answer this because I feel a lot of people think research, treatments, finding a cure, must be better in one country than the other. That may or may not be true if the money isn’t there. It takes money and not all countries can get money like ours. I could on and on but I know you get the picture by now. Blessings.
